A free-for-all of unregulated opinions, reviews on TripAdvisor, Google, and Facebook can be a source of great information… or whatever it is that these people wrote.

Every week I’ll be helping you steer clear of the worst things to do in your favorite destinations, thanks to the incredible insight gleaned from travelers before you. You can trust the information here, it’s from the internet.

*Some places are mentioned more than once because of how awful they are.

Welcome to the Top Ten Worst Things to Do in The Outer Banks

# 10. Cape Hatteras Lighthouse

I don’t even have anything witty to say, I just love this so much. 2 stars.

Iconic, this lighthouse usually is a highlight of things to do in the outer banks.

# 9. Jennette’s Pier

OBX – where piers that look like piers are a disappointment. 2 stars.

# 8. Wright Brothers National Memorial

Not at all impressed with the birthplace of flight. 2 stars.

# 7. Currituck Beach

Roads – where cars drive. 1 star.

(Personally I think this is one of the coolest things to do in the Outer Banks!)

# 6. Duck Boardwalk

Absolutely spot-on analysis about the sun… 2 stars.

# 5. Jockey’s Ridge State Park

Who would’ve thought that a park devoted entirely to sand dunes would be entirely sand dunes? Not these folks. 1 star.

This state park has an interesting history and is definitely one of the cooler things to do in the outer banks.

# 4. Kill Devil Grill

…and this absolutely spot-on North Carolina wing expert. 2 stars.

# 3. Ocracoke Lighthouse

Lighthouse or giant penis? 1 star.

(Visitors to Hawai’i don’t love their lighthouses, either)

# 2. Wright Brothers National Memorial

If there’s one thing 100-year-old monuments do, it’s change weekly. 2 stars.

And the WORST thing to do in The Outer Banks is…. North Carolina Aquarium on Roanoke Island

Knowing the aquarium was closed but going anyway. Priceless. 1 star.

If you love aquariums and run into a rainy day, check out one of my favorite things to do in the outer banks.

The internet is a wild place.
